March/April 2008 Showcase Well time flies when you are having fun. I missed the February showcase so here is a beauty for March/April. Kathy, thank you so much for your wonderful creations. Now here comes Bill. Bill is a fairly new knitter and has been very active in the KEKnitlist yahoo group along with being a member of Knitters Edge. Bill, to thank you for giving Knitters Edge the opportunity to show your work, we are giving you one month free. Keep up the great work and we look forward to seeing more from you. Let’s hear what Bill has to say about his great work of art. “3 months ago I joined KE and this group after hearing about all the helpful people involved. At the time I was at my wits end where my KM was concerned. I just could not make it work no matter how hard I tried. Knitters Edge and this group have been the single best resource for me as I delved into this new art form of fiber. All the questions you answered, the tips and techniques you shared kept me from getting discouraged. It was so nice to see not only the active community but that I wasn't the only one struggling with my machine. From short rowing to fairisle I have used KE as a resource and this community to help clarify and reinforce what I was learning. Thank you all. I will do my best to pass it forward as you all and KE have done for me.
I posted a picture of my first sweater. I designed the fairisle pattern myself as well as created the sweater shape. Both were completed in DAK 7.x. The DAK lessons on KE got me up to speed fast in this area. Also being able to download and look at existing patterns helped me to know how a sweater is designed. The sweater picture is located in my album, bill& lisas stuff, if you want to take a look. Id be great full for any critique you might have. Peace, Machine: Silver Reed SK840 Yarn: the light gray is a 100% wool and the indigo is a 90/10 wool blend, the red is just some acrylic I had laying in the stash, nothing fancy. Actually all the yarns used in this sweater were bought at a yarn clearance warehouse for less than 5 dollars a pound. I call this stuff my practice yarn. I wasn't going to use really good yarn until I was more comfortable with the craft. I can’t wait to start this month’s KAL, I have some killer mohair for this one!” Bill
So many Knitters Edge members are producing beautiful garments from the Tricia Shafer collection of patterns already on the site.
I will be showcasing a Knitters Edge pattern once a month so if you have a picture and a small bio from your machine or hand knitted piece please email me and we will showcase your wonderful work. Please include the site you belong to, the pattern name and number, the yarn used, and machine/needle size.
